2018 Hyundai Santro rivals Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Tata Tiago and Renault Kwid; offers many segment-first features like rear AC vents
Hyundai has launched the new generation Santro marking return of the hatchback to the Indian market. Based on a new K1 platform, the new Santro has 63 percent high strength steel construction and is powered by a 1.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 69 PS and 99 Nm.
It is mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT (first for Hyundai). Both transmission options offer respective mileages of 20.3 kmpl. The CNG version develops as much as 59 PS and 84 Nm, and is connected to a five-speed manual only with claimed economy of 30.5 km/kg. The South Korean auto major offers 3 years/1 lakh km standard warranty in the new Santro.
The 2018 Santro comes with modern styling and has a dual-tone interior with seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system enabling Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, reverse parking camera and sensors, and rear AC vents among others.
