Honda is going to launch the new CR-V today in India and the base variant is expected to be priced at Rs. 20.99 lakh while top-end diesel expected at Rs. 27.9 lakh
Since the launch of second-generation Amaze in India, Honda is posting good sales growth and the company is going to launch the new CR-V today in India to continue the positive momentum. The base variant of CR-V is expected to be priced at Rs. 20.99 lakh and top of the line diesel at Rs. 27.9 lakh (both price, Ex-Showroom) expected.
The new generation CR-V made its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo and the company has increased dimensions compared to the outgoing model. For the first time, the CR-V comes with 7 seats and a diesel engine option as it will solve one of the biggest complaints of the current generation model, which is efficiency.
The CR-V is the most efficient model in its class and it will be offered with both diesel and petrol engine options, but the company won’t offer a manual transmission. The 2.0 i-VTEC petrol unit produces 154 hp of power and 189 Nm of torque, the power is sent to front wheels via CVT transmission.
The 1.6 L Earth Dream series diesel engine puts out 120 hp and 300 Nm, which is low compared to its rivals like Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Toyota Fortuner. Even though Honda offers a turbocharged version of this same engine with more power in global markets, but because of the cost, they opted not to bring it here.
The diesel engine is mated to ZF sourced 9-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and it comes with both front wheel and all-wheel drive configuration. The claimed mileage of new CR-V is 18.6 kmpl for diesel and 14.1 kmpl for petrol. The exterior design of the new model is evolutionary, but the interior gets a futuristic theme.
Honda has given lots of features for CR-V like 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual zone climate control, heated mirrors, electrically adjustable driver seat, automatic headlamp, rain sensing wipers, rear-view camera with parking sensors, leather seats and more.
