2018 Hero Super Splendor gets a redesigned exterior while the same 125 cc iSmart unit delivers a claimed 80 kmpl
Looking for a new practical and economical commuter bike? Get ready for another product from the Hero stable. The Hero Honda Splendor was first launched in 1994 and since then it has not only been popular but also become a bestselling model of all time in the country. After the success of the iconic Splendor that came with the i3s technology, it gained higher capacity with appreciable popularity.
The i3S is going really well through the showrooms – rural or urban – and Hero has been motivated to bring up more products with same technology. As a result, the updated 2018 Super Splendor iSmart 125cc with stop-start technology was launched as last month as we exclusively revealed and now its official pricing is out. The iSmart is turning out to be like an unique sub-brand as Splendor and Passion play a significant role in Hero selling lakhs of motorcycles every single month with ease.
The Hero iSmart 110cc motorcycle launched in July 2016 was the first fully in-house built motorcycle courtesy of the R&D team at Hero Centre of Innovation and Technology in Jaipur. It featured all-time active headlamp in response to government’s mandate, engine complying with BS-4 emission regulations, improved double cradle design and TOD (Torque On Demand) engine.
Going by that, the new MY2018 Super Splendor come loaded with essential plenty of changes and of course the AHO facility has been included. The new Super Splendor iSmart 125 will be crucial in the extending the brand’s dominance in the domestic as well as having a strong effect in foreign markets.

The outgoing Super Splendor costs around Rs. 56,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) offering quite a good value for money proposition to the customers. With a little hike, the new version is priced at Rs. 57,190. No disc brake version has been put on sale yet and deliveries of the new model have commenced.

2018 Hero Super Splendor i3s Engine and Specs
It gets powered by the same 124.7 cc four-stroke single-cylinder OHC BSIV engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 11.50 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11 Nm delivered at 6,000 rpm – at increase of 1.9 hp and 0.65 Nm. The engine is paired to a four-speed constant mesh gearbox. The engine is equipped with iSmart fuel-saving technology for greater economy. The cylinder itself seems to have been angled slightly upwards in the new version.

It enables the motorcycle’s engine to shut down automatically when in idle state and cranks it up back again with the press of the clutch instantly. As in the Achiever and Splendor 110 iSmart, Hero adds AHO (Auto Headlamp On) feature to comply with the upcoming government mandate.

Riding on tubular double cradle chassis, the new Super Splendor is suspended on telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers up front and rectangular swing arm with five step adjustable shocks at the rear. Braking is done by 130 mm front and rear drum system tyres up front has 2.75 x 18 – 42 P / 4 PR specification with 2.75 x 18 – 48 P / 6 PR for the rear.

2018 Hero Super Splendor iSmart 125 cc Design
Design wise, the new Super Splendor 125 comes with plenty of updates. Fuel tank, side panels and split grab rails and much more are from the familiar Hero parts bin. Detailing includes Hero badge on the handlebar and the bike will get new three-pod instrument cluster which showcases the necessary information. It features newly designed indicators, integrated LED taillight, revised silencer with chrome-ish heat shield and redesigned centre cowl and more comfortable stats.
