2016 Proton Perdana Launched with 2.0 litre and 2.4 litre Honda Engines in Malaysia

Proton Perdana, based on Honda Accord, has finally been launched with 2-litre and 2.4-litre engines at a starting price of RM 113,888 (18.6 lakh)

Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak officially revealed the fourth generation Perdana today. Talking on the occasion, Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, the CEO of Proton said that they were very happy with the strong interest that was built around the launch of the new 2016 Proton Perdana. He further added that the launch took some time because the company wanted to make sure that the car is top notch and nowhere does it fall short.

The new 2016 Proton Perdana is based on the Honda Accord in its previous generation. The car has been made available in Malaysia at a price of RM 113,888 with its 2.0 litre engine whereas the 2.4 litre engine is available at the price of RM 138,888. These prices are on-road and include the cost of insurance.

New 2016 Proton Perdana is stylised in a way that it is sure to make heads turn. It is quite a big vehicle and has a length of 5,020mm, width of 1,845mm whereas the height of the car is around 1,475mm. The sloping roof at the rear end further adds to the character of the car. The highlight of the exteriors is definitely the fact that the diffuser panel as well as exhaust are offered in body color. The diffuser being in body color is something unique to the 2016 Proton Perdana.

Using the iVTEC engine, Perdana uses the R20 2.0litre engine that can deliver 154bhp at 6,300rpm whereas the maximum torque produced is 189Nm at 4,300rpm. The 2.4-litre 2016 Perdana uses the K24 DOHC engine that can produce 178bhp at 6,500rpm and 222Nm at 4,300rpm. Both the engines have been sourced from Honda. The variants are equipped with a 5 speed automatic transmission where the 2.4-litre variant also gets steering paddle shifters.

In terms of features, one can see leather seats, steering buttons for cruise control as well as dual zone auto air – conditioning and Proton Infotainment system. Four airbags, ABS with EBD as well as Isofix child mounts are a standard but the electronic stability control is unique to the 2.4-litre variant only.

The company already has 900 orders for the 2016 Proton Perdana which was open for booking in February this year. Further, the company is expecting about 3,000 units sale in this year itself.
