Jawa dispatched 130 bikes last month and the company will begin deliveries of Forty Two and Jawa classic from next week onwards
Jawa dispatched 130 bikes in February 2019 compared to 44 units the previous month. The company is expected to begin deliveries from next week as they want to open 105 dealerships in the first phase before commencing deliveries. Jawa has already opened more than 50 dealerships last month and they are expanding rapidly to reach the target.
The Czech manufacturer officially announced its re-entry into the Indian market in November 2018 and initially the company is planning to sell two bikes – Forty Two and Jawa Classic. The response for both these motorcycles has been overwhelming and the company officially closed online bookings on December 25.
The customers can still book the bikes at the dealerships but the priority will be given for customers who had booked till December 25. Initially, Jawa was offering single-channel ABS braking system with Forty Two and Classic models as rear got drum brakes only. Then the company introduced dual-channel ABS model with rear disc brake option in December.
The dual-channel ABS model is priced at a premium of Rs. 8,942 over the single-channel ABS version. Jawa is also giving the option for customers to switch bookings to dual-channel ABS model. The delivery of these models will commence only in June 2019. The company has also tied up with various banks to offer finance schemes.
Jawa is currently offering the Forty Two is six colour options in which two are metallic colours – Comet Red and Starlight Blue. The matte paint colour options include Nebula Blue, Lumos Lime, Galactic Green and Hally’s Teal. The company will offer lots of accessories for Forty Two and Jawa Classic models.
Both these motorcycles are powered by 293 cc single cylinder, four-valve, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine and it produces 27 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the engineers have tuned the engine for excellent mid-range performance. The exhaust note is also reminiscent of old motorcycles.
