Mahindra still has a huge backlog of orders as it stands at over 2.20 lakh by the start of this month but the waiting period is rapidly reducing

Mahindra & Mahindra has been ramping up its production in recent times and thus it has been able to deliver more new cars to customers by reducing the waiting period. The homegrown manufacturer’s recent launches have been highly successful as the latest Thar and its 2WD version, XUV700 and Scorpio N have been well received by consumers.

However, Mahindra still has a huge backlog of orders as it stands at over 2.20 lakh by the start of this month. The brand has been taking measures to bring down the waiting period at a rapid pace and since November 2023, the backlog has reduced by over 60,000 units. At this rate, Mahindra can significantly reduce the waiting delivery times in 2024.

Mahindra is currently receiving 50,000 reservations on average every month and the production has been increased to around 40,000 units on a monthly basis. The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic have combined to register 16,000 bookings per month and it is no surprise to see the Scorpio range sitting within the top three of midsize SUV sales every month.

Mahindra is yet to deliver more than one lakh units of the Scorpio series while the Bolero and Bolero Neo combined to garner 11,000 bookings per month but only 10,000 units are pending on the delivery list. The Mahindra XUV700 and Thar SUVs are gaining similar booking numbers of around 7,000 units every month but the latter has the higher backlog.

The XUV700 has a backlog of 35,000 units while the Thar has it at 71,000 units. On average, the Mahindra XUV300 compact SUV and XUV400 electric SUV are recording 9,000 units every month and the backlog stands at close to 9,000 units. A few weeks ago, Mahindra introduced the updated version of the XUV700 with a brand new interior and the six-seater XUV700.

Along the course of this calendar year, Mahindra has lined up new launches as the XUV300 facelift is expected to arrive within the next three months and it will be followed by the five-door version of the Thar. Earlier, Mahindra announced the tentative launch timeline for the XUV.e8 electric SUV, based on the XUV700, to be December 2024.
