Valentino Rossi Returns At Aragon After Declared Fit To Race

Valentino Rossi Accident, Now Out Of Hospital

Valentino Rossi finished the opening MotoGP practice at Aragon 18th on his return to track action

Nine time world champion Valentino Rossi was declared fit to ride at the Aragon GP weekend yesterday. The MotoGP sensation had met with an off road accident over two weeks back that resulted in a serious fracture in his leg. At the time of surgery, doctors had stated that Rossi will be needing at least 30 to 40 days to return on his bike. In such a case, the return of Rossi in just 21 days indeed comes as a shocker.

However, due to the injury, Valentino Rossi was not able to compete in the Misano GP where Yamaha decided to do the task with only Maverick Vinales and not with two riders. Rossi has taken part in the practice session to check whether he can compete in the remaining weekend.

Regarding his recovery, Yamaha issued a statement which said that on Thursday, Valentino Rossi completed a mandatory examination that was carried out by Chief Medical Officer, Clemente Millan. The doctor declared Rossi fit after 21 days of sustaining his leg injury and he would take part in the FP1 session today.

Valentino Rossi expressed himself saying that despite the doctor’s declaration, he would have to wait and see how things pan out in FP1. That is because of the simple reason that riding a M1 is a much bigger challenge to face.

Earlier, Yamaha had announced a replacement for Valentino Rossi in the form of Michael van der Mark to race at the Aragon GP. Just in case Rossi does not manage to complete the remainder for the weekend, Mark will take his place. During the race, Valentino’s crew will be working with him as well.

Talking of the current standings, Andrea Dovizioso and Marc Marquez are on a tie with 199 points each. Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales sits at the third place, followed by Rossi who is 42 points away from the title.
