Audi A3 Facelift 2017

Audi A3 Facelift cheated emission test conducted by German federal transport authority Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) reportedly

The 2017 Audi A3 is suspected to have cheated the emission tests in Germany. According to German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), the facelifted Audi A3’s 2.0-litre TDI engine has shown discrepancies in the official emission test done by the German federal transport authority Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA). The car has allegedly used emission cheating technology which has caused the irregularity in the test result.

The German newspaper reports that following the findings of KBA, Joint Research Centre of the European Commission has run subsequent tests on the car. After that, the agency suggested Audi has manipulated the diesel engine of the A3. During the tests it was revealed that exhaust gas measurements varied depending on temperatures. This has fueled the speculation of usage of the emission cheating technology.

It is also suggested KBA has skipped some important tests during the process of approving the A3. It clearly indicated to manipulate test result as an official government body allegedly partnered in crime with an automaker. Interestingly, the Audi A3 was facelifted earlier this year, couple of months after the Dieselgate scam came under scanner.

Dieselgate has been the biggest scandal in the world automotive history. The scam first came under light in US and later it was found that several Volkswagen diesel models were equipped with emission cheating software across the world. Not only the VW cars, but Audi and Porsche models also were found with the similar emission test cheating technology.

It also claims that different measurements from different testing institutes prove the A3’s 2.0-litre TDI engine is well within the legal limits of EU6.
