Yamaha has launched the all-new YZF-R2 in India at Rs. 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) as it has made its world debut. The new 200cc supersport motorcycle becomes Yamaha’s first motorcycle in the segment and arrives in three variants, five colour options and a newly developed 204cc engine. Deliveries are scheduled to begin across Yamaha Blue Square dealerships from mid-September 2026.
The YZF-R2 gets a 204cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-valve, DOHC petrol engine that develops 26.5 PS and 19.1 Nm. The engine features a finger-follower rocker-arm valvetrain along with Diamond-Like Carbon coating derived from the YZF-R1. Yamaha hooks the engine with a six-speed gearbox while the motorcycle also gets an assist and slipper clutch. The middle and top variants add a segment-first third generation bi-directional Quick Shifter.
The motorcycle is based on a new high-tensile steel tube diamond frame that weighs 14 kg – helping keep kerb weight at 149 kg. The chassis draws inspiration from the YZF-R6 while a four-point engine mounting arrangement adds another mounting point for greater structural rigidity. Suspension hardware comprises 37 mm upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. Dual-channel ABS, Traction Control System and Yamaha Ride Control also come standard across the range.

The YZF-R2 utilises styling cues from Yamaha’s latest R-series motorcycles particularly the R9 and R1. The front gets a bi-functional LED headlamp, dual LED position lights and a compact fairing designed around aero efficiency. The rear features a block-style LED tail lamp while the swingarm takes inspiration from Yamaha’s MotoGP machinery. A 17-inch wheel setup accentuates the motorcycle’s supersport design.
The rider interface comes with a 5-inch full-colour TFT display that presents ride and navigation information. Yamaha Ride Control offers Street, Sport and Rain modes as it gives riders three powertrain calibration choices for different conditions. The YZF-R2 M adds a Smart Key System, adjustable front fork, rear shock absorber, clutch lever and brake lever, alongside a premium 3D-embossed emblem, faux-suede seat, silver-finished swingarm and shot-blasted muffler end cap.

The base YZF-R2 costs Rs. 2.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and comes in Metallic Black and Dark Bluish Gray. The YZF-R2 Quick Shifter variant costs Rs. 2.39 lakh and is offered in Matte White Pearl and Racing Blue. The range-topping YZF-R2 M costs Rs. 2.53 lakh and gets Metallic Gray as its exclusive colour.
