Volvo Cars India has launched the EX90 flagship electric SUV at Rs. 1.26 crore (ex-showroom). The new model is offered exclusively in the Twin Motor Ultra variant and comes with a six-seat layout and an all-wheel drive system. Bookings have opened across India and customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first month of 2027.

The EX90 measures 5,037 mm in length, 1,964 mm in width and 1,744 mm in height. Its wheelbase stands at 2,985 mm. The exterior gets Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, flush door handles, 21-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped rear lamps. Active air suspension can raise the ground clearance from 210 mm to 250 mm as well.

The electric SUV features a 106 kWh battery and two motors that develop a combined 450 hp and 670 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive system enables acceleration from zero to 100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 180 kmph. The EX90 offers a claimed driving range of up to 625 km under the WLTP testing cycle.

The EX90 is based on Volvo’s SPA2 architecture and incorporates an 800V electrical system. In addition, DC fast charging is supported at up to 350 kW. The battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes through a suitable fast charger. Furthermore, an 11 kW AC connection takes around ten hours for a complete charge. The SUV also supports over-the-air software updates.

The cabin has three rows of seats and two individual captain’s chairs in the second row. Luggage capacity stands at 324 litres with all seats upright and increases to 690 litres when the third row is folded. The SUV also has a 46-litre storage compartment beneath the bonnet. The equipment list comprises a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, nine-inch digital instrument display, four-zone climate control and an electrochromic panoramic roof. A 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system and heated, ventilated and massaging front seats are also available.

The EX90 also comes equipped with nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, Pilot Assist and Park Pilot Assist. Its driver assistance package composes autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and intersection auto-braking. Volvo has also fitted a driver-monitoring system that tracks attentiveness. It must be noted that the electric SUV has secured a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

Volvo has announced introductory benefits for customers who book the EX90 before December 31, 2026. The package includes an 11 kW home charger, three years of servicing and an assured buyback value of 65 per cent after three years which is subject to the applicable programme terms. Test drives are scheduled to begin as early as next month.
