Toyota Kirloskar Motor has reported total sales of 32,842 units in August 2026, including 28,410 units in the domestic market and 4,432 units exported. While August volumes were lower than the previous year, Toyota’s cumulative performance remains firmly positive. Between January and August 2026, the company sold 2,66,696 units, registering 10% growth over the 2,41,733 units sold during the corresponding period in 2025.
Toyota’s domestic sales were 3% lower year-on-year, slipping from 29,302 units in August 2025 to 28,410 units this year. The company also recorded a sequential decline from the 30,516 domestic units sold in July 2026. Exports stood at 4,432 units during the month. The bigger picture, however, remains encouraging. Toyota’s domestic sales for the first eight months of 2026 reached 2,44,592 units, up 11% from 2,19,992 units in the same period last year.
Exports increased from 21,741 units to 22,104 units, giving the company an overall YTD growth of 10%. Toyota’s India portfolio now covers a wide range of segments, from the Glanza, Taisor and Rumion to the Hyryder, Innova range and Fortuner, along with premium models such as the Camry, Vellfire and Land Cruiser 300.

The company manufactures the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Legender at its first Bidadi plant, while the second plant produces models including the Hyryder, Hilux and Camry Hybrid. Toyota says it remains positive about the opportunities presented by the upcoming festive season, which traditionally brings a significant spike in vehicle demand. With its cumulative sales already up 10% for the year, the company enters the crucial final months of 2026 from a reasonably strong position.
Toyota may have missed out on some momentum in August, but the YTD numbers tell a different story. More than 2.66 lakh vehicles sold in eight months, combined with double-digit domestic growth, gives the Japanese carmaker plenty to build on as the festive season gets into full swing.

The upcoming Toyota Innova HyCross facelift could give Toyota’s sales an additional boost once it arrives in India, with the updated MPV expected to make its debut soon. Spy shots and recently revealed design patents point to a more aggressive, Hilux-inspired front end, while the cabin could get a larger infotainment screen, revised upholstery, and additional technology.
The existing 2.0-litre petrol and strong-hybrid powertrains are expected to continue, meaning Toyota is likely to focus on refreshing the product rather than changing the formula that has already worked well. With the Innova HyCross already among Toyota’s important volume contributors, a fresh design and updated cabin could attract both new buyers and customers waiting for an updated version.
