The electric scooter market garnered a domestic total of 1,88,714 units in August 2026 – up 131.04 per cent against 81,681 units sold during the same period a year earlier. The Bajaj Chetak led the rankings at 52,248 units and secured a 27.69 per cent share. The TVS iQube stood second at 42,882 units as the top two scooters accounted for 50.41 per cent of the total.
The Chetak posted the largest volume gain among the leading established scooters as sales increased by 38,234 units from 14,014 units in August 2025 courtesy of the increase in production. The iQube rose by 18,448 units over the same period and recorded 75.50 per cent YoY growth. The gap between first and second place stood at 9,366 units.
The two Indian auto giants have a long battle in their hands as the zero-emission two-wheeler space gets more traction. The Hero Vida occupied third position at 25,558 units as sales more than doubled from 12,273 units last year. The Ather Rizta ranked fourth at 22,586 units after a 30.22 per cent rise. The leading quartet registered 1,43,274 units and controlled 75.92 per cent of the August market.

The TVS Orbiter made its presence felt as well and ranked fifth at 14,641 units by securing a 7.76 per cent share. The Ampere Magnus stood sixth at 9,772 units as volumes increased 98.46 per cent on a YoY basis. The Ather 450 took seventh position at 6,891 units as its volumes were up 27.30 per cent from 5,413 units sold during the same period twelve months ago.
The River Indie followed at 6,567 units as its sales climbed 194.62 per cent from 2,229 units. The Ampere Reo ranked ninth at 1,911 units after a 271.79 per cent increase. The Honda QC1 stood tenth at 1,902 units and the Bajaj Yulu reached 1,500 units after sales rose from just 150 units a year earlier.

The Ampere Nexus occupied 12th place at 756 units and recorded 106.56 per cent YoY growth. The Suzuki e-Access ranked 13th at 668 units as it finished ahead of the Yamaha ECO6 at 475 units and Ather Konarc at 217 units.
