The MPV space recorded combined sales of 42,654 units in August 2026 as compared with 39,873 units in the same month last year with an increase of 7 per cent. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga retained first place with 18,516 units ahead of the Toyota Innova Hycross and Crysta at 8,963 units. Kia’s Carens and Clavis ranked third with 6,093 units.
The first three positions alone generated 33,572 units – equivalent to 78.7 per cent of the segment. The Ertiga contributed more than half of that volume on its own and recorded a marginal 0.4 per cent YoY increase. The Innova Hycross and Crysta combination slipped 3.7 per cent and Carens along with the Carens Clavis recorded a 10.7 per cent decline.
Nissan placed the Gravite at 1,440 units but it was only good enough for seventh place and a 3.4 per cent share. It finished only 96 units behind its sibling, the Renault Triber, which recorded 1,536 units. The Triber fell 17.9 per cent from 1,870 units in August 2025 creating one of the larger declines among the volume models in the table.

Toyota posted contrasting results across its three entries. The Innova Hycross and Crysta’s sales fell to 8,963 units but the Rumion climbed from just 68 units last year to 2,396 units in August 2026. The numbers equate to YoY growth of 3,423.5 per cent and placed the Rumion fifth. The Vellfire sat much lower at 79 units – down 24 per cent from 104 units.
Maruti Suzuki accumulated 22,069 units from the Ertiga, XL6 and Invicto giving it 51.7 per cent share of the MUV market. The XL6, the more premium take on Ertiga, added 3,293 units and rose 10.8 per cent YoY and the Invicto recorded 260 units – up 9.7 per cent. The Ertiga still supplied nearly 84 per cent of Maruti Suzuki’s MUV volume across these three models.

Kia registered 6,171 units from the Carens, Clavis and Carnival. The Carens and Clavis supplied almost the entire figure at 6,093 units and the Carnival added 78 units after sales rose 56 per cent from 50 units last year. Toyota’s combined tally stood at 11,438 units with a 26.8 per cent share compared with Kia’s 14.5 per cent.
Its sales dropped steeply outside the first seven positions with the Invicto, Vellfire and Carnival recording a combined 417 units. The top five models, by contrast, generated 39,261 units and accounted for roughly 92 per cent of the entire top 10 tally.
