Tata Motors registers 86% growth in domestic sales compared to same month last year. The Indian manufacturer sold 53,511 units compared to 28,844 units sold during April 2017. Even though passenger car segment is important for Tata Motors, the main volume for the company comes from commercial segment.
The company was leading in the commercial segment for years until new manufacturers like Bharat Benz entered the market which took away volumes from the Indian manufacturers. But the company worked on newer models which comes with world class technologies and made a strong come back in the CV segment retaining their lead.

The passenger sales vehicles also registered growth of 34 percent as the company sold 17,235 units compared to 12,827 in April 2017. The sales growth of passenger vehicles is thanks to the launch of new models like Tiago, Tigor and Nexon. The export of Tata Motors also posted a growth of 41 percent with 3010 units compared to April 2017.

The Indian manufacturer is also working on a performance variant of Tiago as the hot hatchback segment is rising in India with the introduction of models like Baleno RS and Polo GT TSI. The Tiago JP Edition is going to be powered by 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine from Nexon along with some changes for suspension and exhaust to make it more sporty than regular model.
