Tata Motors will launch the Aeris in India tomorrow as the new compact sedan is set to introduce a new nameplate for the company’s sub-four-metre sedan lineup. Recent teasers have already revealed several production-spec exterior details including slender headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, new U-shaped alloy wheels, revised LED tail lamps and Aeris lettering across the tailgate.
The front end gets one of the biggest visual changes. Tata has gone for sleeker headlamps with integrated DRLs along with a revised bumper and a larger lower air intake in the rebranded Tigor. Earlier teasers had already shown changes around the nose and the latest sneak-peek gives a better look at the finished lighting treatment. The bonnet and grille area also receive revisions compared with the current Tigor.
Changes at the rear are equally noticeable. Aeris badging stretches across the tailgate and the revised LED tail lamps get a sharper internal signature. The boot lid and rear bumper have also been reworked and the overall treatment looks more angular than before. New U-shaped alloy wheels add another identifiable styling change and should feature on the more expensive trims.

The cabin is expected to receive a substantial update as well. Previous information points to a redesigned dashboard, a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a revised digital instrument cluster. Tata could also introduce a new steering wheel, altered centre console layout and additional features from the likes of Punch and Nexon.
The petrol-powered Aeris is expected to retain Tata’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine. The current unit produces around 86 PS and 113 Nm and comes with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. No major engine updates are likely and it will be interesting to see when its electric version will arrive as it has not been teased for tomorrow.

A factory-fitted CNG version will also stay in the range. Tata already offers CNG across several of its small cars and the Aeris should retain that option alongside petrol. It will help position the five-seater in a competitive manner against the likes of the segment-leading Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
