Royal Enfield is expected to unveil new electric motorcycles and concepts at the 2024 EICMA scheduled between November 5 and 10

Royal Enfield is expected to unveil its first-ever electric motorcycle on November 4, 2024, coinciding with the EICMA show which opens for press on November 5 in Milan. The Chennai-based manufacturer has a history of showcasing near-production concepts at the Italian motor show, and this time, it may present the near-production version of its debut zero-emission motorcycle.

The brand has been developing a range of electric motorcycles for both the Indian and international markets. Previously, design patent images of the upcoming electric model were revealed, showcasing its blend of retro aesthetics with modern styling elements, much like other RE models. The teaser hints at a similar design approach, featuring classic cues such as aluminium girders, reinforcing the brand’s signature vintage stance while integrating contemporary touches.

Royal Enfield’s teaser for its upcoming offering also shows a bike suspended from a parachute, floating above the horizon, sparking speculation that it could be the long-rumoured “Flying Flea,” a name trademarked some time ago. The design patent hints at several key features, including circular headlamps, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a floating instrument cluster, alloy wheels and a cantilever seat.

The Flying Flea was a lightweight motorcycle used by British paratroopers during World War II. Designed for air-dropping alongside troops, it excelled in navigating rough terrain with ease. The Flying Flea became a symbol of Royal Enfield’s contribution to the war effort, earning a place in military history and cementing its legacy as an iconic model in the brand’s storied past.

The Chennai-based manufacturer might also unveil a new 650 cc scrambler, dubbed the Interceptor Bear 650, at the EICMA show. Both this model and the electric Flying Flea could make their India debut shortly after at the second edition of MotoVerse. These launches would further expand Royal Enfield’s lineup, offering both electric and scrambler options for diverse rider preferences.
