The electrified Royal Enfield Flying Flea is set to debut on November 4 before going on sale in India as well as abroad

A few days ago, Royal Enfield released the first teaser video of its upcoming motorcycle, which is set to debut on November 4, 2024. It will be showcased at the EICMA event in Milan, Italy starting November 5 for press. The teaser is a clear indication that the motorcycle will mark the return of the Flying Flea name – trademarked a while ago too.

Hung above the horizon on a parachute, the motorcycle symbolised the versatility of the World War 2 veteran, the Flying Flea. We believe it will become the first electric offering from the Chennai-based manufacturer. Hot on the heels of the speculations and teaser, it has been caught on camera on the streets of Barcelona, Spain giving us a much-awaited preview.

The spy pictures were said to be taken earlier this month and right away, the slim profile will catch your attention. It sways away from the retro-styled ICE offering the brand has been known for with the LED headlamp borrowed from the Guerrilla 450 and the LED turn signals look all the more familiar. It appears to be an easy-to-handle, city runaround with a lightweight profile.

The unique aluminium girders, prominently visible in the teaser, highlight the brand’s fresh design philosophy. These exoskeleton-style frames wrap around the tank area, connecting to the steering stem at the front before extending down beneath a black plastic section, likely housing the battery. The girder forks are reinforced by dual linkages and supported by compact spring struts, adding to the new structural design.

The spy shots reveal several key design elements including black alloy wheels, pillion footpegs and round chrome mirrors. The distinctive curved external chassis stands out, with bolt holes that appear to secure the frame rails to the steering stem. While the rear portion wasn’t visible in the images, it’s likely that the motorcycle will also feature a single saddle as an option.

In that case, the rear monoshock for suspension replicates the look of a hardtail frame for a classic aesthetic. The long rear fender appears to hug the rear tyre closely, incorporating the taillights and license plate holder in an integrated design. We do expect it to feature a fixed battery pack with a claimed riding range hovering around 150-160 km.

It could be priced competitively targetting masses in India as well as abroad. The circular instrument console is from the familiar RE parts bin, incorporating turn-by-turn navigation. It is expected to debut in India at the three-day MotoVerse event next month before going on sale.
