Renault has introduced the facelifted Kwid in Brazil with revised styling, a substantially upgraded cabin and additional equipment to its entry-level hatchback. Unveiled at Festival Interlagos in São Paulo on August 26, the updated Kwid stays put with its 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated flex-fuel engine and a five-speed manual gearbox.
The bigger question for India is whether Renault will eventually bring similar changes to the Indian market. The Brazilian range consists of three variants: Evolution, Techno and Outsider. The Evolution is priced at R$82,790 (Rs. 15.37 lakh) while the Techno costs R$85,890 (Rs. 15.94 lakh). The range-topping Outsider is listed at R$91,890 (Rs. 17.05 lakh).
The introductory prices are substantially lower at R$71,090 (Rs. 13.19 lakh) for base, R$75,990 (Rs. 14.10 lakh) for mid and R$84,890 (Rs. 15.76 lakh) for top-end trims. The exterior gains a redesigned bumper and grille, a gloss-black grille treatment and Renault’s new logo. LED daytime running lights are part of the specification while the side graphics have also been revised.
The rear retains its familiar overall design but gains darker detailing around the lamps. A shark-fin antenna replaces the conventional roof-mounted antenna while revised wheel covers and a new alloy wheels for the Outsider complete the visual changes. The cabin receives a more substantial overhaul with a new 7-inch TFT instrument cluster becoming standard across the Brazilian range.
Renault has also revised the centre console, seat upholstery and steering wheel while two USB-C ports and rear parking sensors add to the equipment list. The Techno and Outsider versions receive a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Buyers also get a reversing camera and electric mirror adjustment.
The Outsider boasts several model-specific details such as 14-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, automatic headlamp activation, distinctive seat upholstery and additional exterior elements alongside the 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity and the new LED daytime running lights.
Safety equipment on the 2027 Brazil-spec Renault Kwid comprises electronic stability control, hill-start assistance, tyre-pressure monitoring, four airbags and two ISOFIX mounts. With no performance changes, the naturally aspirated three-cylinder flex-fuel engine produces 71 hp on ethanol and 68 hp on petrol at 5,500 rpm. Peak torque stands at 98 Nm on ethanol and 92 Nm on petrol with a five-speed manual gearbox sending power to the front wheels. Renault quotes a 0 to 100 kmph time of 13.5 seconds on ethanol and 14 seconds on petrol.
