Mini India has opened pre-launch bookings for the Cooper Oxford Edition – a limited edition version of the Cooper S 3-door. The special edition celebrates the brand’s British origins with distinctive Union Jack graphics, exclusive accessories and several interior updates. The Oxford Edition will be offered in limited quantities across India with the manufacturer yet to announce its official price and delivery schedule.
Customers can reserve the hatchback through authorised Mini dealerships or register their interest on the company’s official website. The Oxford Edition gets a contrasting white roof with a large Union Jack graphic accompanied by matching bonnet and boot stripes. The exterior also features British flag decals on the tailgate, Oxford-specific wheel hub caps and Union Jack valve caps.
The special edition comes in Indigo Sunset Blue and Chilli Red exterior colours – both complemented by white mirror caps. The hatchback rides on 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone alloy wheels and gets circular LED headlights with customisable daytime running light signatures. The exterior modifications distinguish the special edition from the regular Cooper S but the mechanical elements stay the same.
The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition draws power from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that kicks out 204 hp and 300 Nm of peak torque between 1,450 and 4,500 rpm. The engine connects to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The hatchback accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and has a claimed fuel efficiency of 16.82 kmpl.
The cabin features Mini’s Favoured trim with JCW sport seats upholstered in black, a beige and grey knitted dashboard, silver interior accents and an anthracite headliner. The Oxford-based additions include dedicated front floor mats, door entry sills, a Union Jack steering wheel badge and a matching key cap. The equipment list comprises a 240 mm circular OLED touchscreen, a head-up display, Harman Kardon surround sound system, panoramic glass roof and heated steering wheel.
Electrically adjustable front seats with a driver memory function, wireless charging, an interior camera and multiple digital display modes are also available. The safety package includes ADAS with forward collision warning, lane departure warning, driver attentiveness monitoring, speed warning and a reversing assistant. The Cooper Oxford Edition also comes with dynamic stability control, traction control, cornering brake control, ABS and brake assist.
Parking equipment consists of front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and a parking assistant. Other features include automatic climate control, cruise control with braking function, Digital Key Plus, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and remote software updates. The manufacturer also provides a tyre pressure monitor, run-flat indicator and emergency call functionality.
The Oxford Edition takes its name from the British city where production of the original Mini began in 1959. The BMW Group subsequently commenced manufacturing the modern Mini at the same facility in 2001. The special edition pays tribute to this association through its British-themed exterior treatment and interior detailing. The model also receives a dedicated digital Personal Mode background inspired by the Union Jack design which extends the exterior theme to the central OLED display. The Oxford facility has remained an integral part of the brand’s manufacturing operations for several decades.
