MG Hector Tomahawk EV Launched At Rs. 13.99 Lakh – 517 Km Range

MG Hector Tomahawk EV gets a 55.2 kWh battery pack and is available in both five- and seven-seater layouts in India

JSW MG Motor India has today launched the Hector Tomahawk EV in India with prices starting at Rs. 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the seven-seat version. The new electric SUV is available in Excite, Exclusive and Essence trims while the Essence variant can also be specified as a five-seater. MG has equipped the model with a 55.2 kWh battery and it boasts a claimed range of up to 517 km and an electric motor develops 204 PS and 310 Nm.

The battery can be charged through a 7.4 kW AC charger or a 90 kW DC fast charger. MG has also introduced Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality which it claims makes the Hector Tomahawk EV the first car in India to offer the technology. The system can supply electricity from the vehicle’s high voltage battery to a compatible home setup – upping its overall practicality.

A 15.6-inch HD touchscreen display sits in the middle of the dashboard. The cabin also gets i-SMART 3.0 connected-car technology, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, the MG App Store and Intelligent Cabin Modes. MG has also integrated GenAI functionality and karaoke while a 360-degree HD camera adds transparent chassis and wheel view functions to improve visibility around the vehicle.

The Tomahawk EV measures 2,810 mm between its axles. The five-seat configuration offers 610 litres of boot space while the seven-seater provides 528 litres with the third row folded. The seven-seat range comprises Excite, Exclusive and Essence variants whereas the five-seat configuration is available in the Essence trim. The premium SUV is based on the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in the global markets with minor exterior changes.

MG has equipped the SUV with a Level 2 ADAS suite covering adaptive cruise control, bend cruise assistance, traffic jam assist, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and lane departure prevention. Front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic pedestrian braking, intelligent hydraulic brake assistance and intelligent headlamp control are also part of the package.

The active safety equipment extends to electronic stability programme, traction control, hill hold control and ABS with electronic brake distribution. An electric parking brake and auto hold are also offered. Prices for the seven-seat Hector Tomahawk EV start at Rs. 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Excite which is followed by Rs. 21.99 lakh for the Exclusive and Rs. 23.49 lakh for the Essence.

Meanwhile, the five-seat Essence costs Rs. 22.99 lakh (ex-showroom). MG is also offering a Battery-as-a-Service programme that reduces the starting price to Rs. 13.99 lakh but consumers will pay a battery rental charge of Rs. 4.9 per km. Both the introductory vehicle prices and BaaS offer apply to limited units. The SUV’s test drives as well as deliveries will commence as early as next month.
