MG ES5 will be officially unveiled fully tomorrow and it will reach the brand’s dealerships in the global markets next year

MG has released the official images of the ES5 ahead of its world premiere. The e-crossover comes with more futuristic styling featuring a closed-off grille with lower air intakes, newly designed alloy wheels, slimmer headlamps with LED DRLs, C-shaped bumper housings, a horizontal light bar connecting the new LED tail lamps, etc. The charging port is where the traditional fuel filler cap will normally be.

The new electrified crossover shares its architecture with the MG 4 electric hatchback but boasts larger dimensions, measuring 4.48 meters in length and 1.85 meters in width, making it slightly longer and wider than the MG ZS EV. This increase in size is likely to enhance cabin space and overall road presence.

The regulatory documents that emerged from China have indicated that the new model will come equipped with a 168 bhp electric motor, similar to the standard MG 4. There’s also speculation that it might incorporate the more powerful 201 bhp and 241 bhp motors from the Long Range and Extended Range versions, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

If true, this could offer buyers additional performance and range options. The MG ES5 will feature a new lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Chinese company CATL. While it is set to replace the ZS EV, it is expected to drop the “ZS” name to create a clearer distinction from the upcoming all-new ZS Hybrid model.

The rebranding move will help separate the two offerings in the automaker’s lineup. The British manufacturer owned by China’s SAIC has announced that it will fully unveil the ES5 tomorrow through Chinese social media platforms. The five-seater is expected to reach dealerships across Europe in the early parts of next year.

The MG ZS EV is currently priced between Rs. 19 lakh and Rs. 25.75 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. We do expect the ES5 to arrive in the domestic market as a successor to the ZS EV but no official confirmation has been made yet. In the International markets, it will be slotted above the MG 4 and will target high volume sales.
