Mercedes-Benz will launch the GLC Electric in India on November 4, 2026 with the GLC 400 4Matic as the sole version for the market. Bookings will open next month and local assembly will take place at the company’s Chakan facility in Pune. Mercedes-Benz says it will become the fastest global model from the brand to reach India as a locally assembled vehicle – only half a year after European sales began.
The GLC 400 4Matic uses two permanently excited synchronous motors with all-wheel drive and produces 489 PS maximum power along with 800 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kmph. The rear electric drive gets a two-speed gearbox with 11:1 and 5:1 ratios and the front motor can disconnect when additional traction is not required.
A 94 kWh usable battery operates through an 800V electrical architecture and gives the GLC 400 4Matic a claimed range of up to 715 km. Its energy consumption stands between 14.9 and 18.9 kWh per 100 km. The battery uses silicon oxide material blended into its graphite anode with cell volumetric energy density rated at 680 Wh per litre.

Its standard AC charging is rated at 11 kW while a 22 kW setup will also be available. A multi-source heat pump can draw heat from the electric drive, high voltage battery and outside air as well.
The electric GLC uses a four-link front suspension and multi-link rear axle. An optional Technology Package adds Airmatic air suspension, intelligent damping and rear axle steering of up to 4.5 degrees. The turning circle measures 12.1 metres and drops to 11.2 metres with rear steering. Regenerative braking can recover up to around 300 kW through the new One-Box braking system.
On the nside, the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric gets a 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen – the largest display Mercedes-Benz has fitted to a production model. The new MB.OS software handles infotainment, charging, driver-assistance and vehicle functions and supports over-the-air updates. Practicality includes a boot of 570 litres which can be increased to 1,740 litres with the rear seats folded and a 128-litre front storage compartment.
The GLC 400 4Matic also gets the latest Digital Light system with micro LED technology and the MB.Drive assistance package. Based on specification, the sensor suite can include up to 10 cameras, five radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
