Mercedes-AMG drew the covers off two roadster versions of the GT sportscar at the 2016 Paris Motor Show and now one has arrived in India. Fanatics of the German luxury automaker knew it was just a matter of time before the roof on the GT got chopped off for people seeking a drive in the sun.
Priced at Rs. 2.19 crore (ex-showroom), the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster gets powered by a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine pushing out a maximum power output of 476 hp at 6,000 rpm and 630 Nm peak torque between 1,700 and 5,000 rpm. The twin turbo unit will help the GT Roadster accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds. The canvas roof-top can be opened and closed in just 11 seconds at speeds of up to 50 kmph.

The GT Roadster is fitted with the new 300 SL Panamericana-inspired grille with an altered structure and vertical chrome bars replacing the blades on the GT Coupe. For improved aerodynamics and efficient engine cooling, the GT Roadster gets an active air management system seen on the Nissan GT-R.
