Yesterday, Mahindra introduced the XUV 3XO CNG in India at a starting price of Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The factory-fitted CNG SUV comes in four variants: MX EDGE, REVX EDGE (O), AX5 and REVX A. The top-spec REVX A costs Rs. 12.27 lakh (ex-showroom). Mahindra has brought in a twin-cylinder CNG installation alongside equipment such as dual digital screens, connected tech, sunroof options and selectable steering modes.
The XUV 3XO CNG features a 1.2-litre mStallion G12 turbocharged MPFI engine that kicks out 110 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Peak torque is available between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm as the performance numbers are same as the regular petrol version. Mahindra claims acceleration from 0 to 60 kmph in 4.9 seconds and 0 to 100 kmph in 11.8 seconds. The two CNG cylinders sit beneath a raised luggage floor to preserve storage space above the installation.
The entry-level MX EDGE costs Rs. 9.99 lakh and comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto, wired Apple CarPlay and four speakers. Other standard equipment are cruise control, selectable steering modes, a reversing camera and rear AC vents. The variant rides on 16-inch steel wheels and gets bi-halogen projector headlamps. Some of the key safety features are six airbags, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages and rear parking sensors.
| Variant | Price (Ex-Showroom) |
|---|---|
| MX EDGE | Rs. 9.99 lakh |
| REVX EDGE (O) | Rs. 10.79 lakh |
| AX5 | Rs. 11.19 lakh |
| REVX A | Rs. 12.27 lakh |
The REVX EDGE (O) costs Rs. 10.79 lakh which is Rs. 80,000 more than the MX EDGE. It allows for a single-pane sunroof, roof rails, electrically foldable mirrors, automatic headlamps and automatic wipers. The variant also features passive keyless entry, push-button start and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Its exterior receives a dual-tone roof, gunmetal grey grille and black wheel covers. Black leatherette upholstery distinguishes the cabin.
The AX5 is priced at Rs. 11.19 lakh and receives additional technology over the MX EDGE. The equipment list boasts twin 10.25-inch displays, six speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay, online navigation and Adrenox Connect with built-in Alexa. The AX5 also gets 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and a single-pane sunroof. Other additions include dual-zone automatic climate control, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a 65 W USB-C charging port.
The top-spec REVX A costs Rs. 12.27 lakh and builds on the AX5’s equipment list. The additions are Dolby Atmos audio, black leatherette seats, a body-coloured and gunmetal grey grille, a contrasting roof and 16-inch painted black alloy wheels. Mahindra also lists its sunroof among the variant’s equipment. The REVX A carries a premium of Rs. 1.08 lakh over the AX5 and concentrates on exterior styling and cabin enhancements.
The AX5 is the top-notch overall choice considering its equipment and price. It costs Rs. 40,000 more than the REVX EDGE (O) but comes with twin digital displays, connected navigation, additional speakers and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The REVX EDGE (O) is worth considering for its black-themed styling and leatherette upholstery at a lower price. Meanwhile, the MX EDGE already offers a substantial equipment package for Rs. 9.99 lakh.
