Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG SUV develops 200 Nm of torque and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 11.8 seconds; gets 35 standard safety features and claimed efficiency of 24.7 km/kg

Mahindra has introduced the CNG version of the XUV 3XO, dubbed the ZNG, in India carrying a starting price of Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The factory-fitted CNG model is available in four variants: MX EDGE, REVX EDGE (O), AX5 and REVX A. The top-spec variant costs Rs. 12.27 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV features a dual-cylinder CNG installation beneath the boot floor and a turbocharged bi-fuel engine developing 200 Nm of torque.

The XUV 3XO CNG features two cylinders mounted side by side beneath a raised luggage compartment floor. The installation preserves storage space above the tanks for carrying luggage. Mahindra has incorporated a dedicated fuel selection switch inside the cabin to switch between petrol and CNG operation. The twin-cylinder arrangement gives the new model a practical alternative to single-cylinder installations that occupy a substantial portion of the boot.

The SUV gets Mahindra’s 1.2-litre mStallion G12 turbocharged MPFI engine which develops around 110 hp and 200 Nm. Peak torque is available between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm. The engine incorporates a dedicated CNG injection system and an optimised turbocharger for bi-fuel operation. Mahindra claims a 0 to 60 kmph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds and a 0 to 100 kmph sprint of 11.8 seconds.

The XUV 3XO CNG carries over its independent MacPherson strut front suspension and semi-independent twist-beam rear axle. The chassis incorporates MTV-CL dampers alongside calibrated springs and anti-roll bars. The rear suspension has a spring separation of 1,108 mm for improved lateral stability. The SUV also gets third-gen electric power steering with Normal, Comfort and Sports modes. The system offers lighter steering during parking manoeuvres and additional resistance at increased speeds.
