Kia India recorded a total domestic sale of 29,042 units in August 2026 – up 48 per cent from 19,608 units garnered during the same period last year. The company also posted a 3 per cent increase over July’s 28,200 units. The Seltos midsize SUV ranked first at 11,716 units while the Sonet took second place with 9,048 units and the Carens stood third at 6,093 units.
The Kia Syros was a distant fourth with 1,742 units despite recently expanding its range with the inclusion of the electrified version. The first three models accounted for 26,857 units – equal to around 92.5 per cent of Kia’s August tally. The total left only 2,185 units for every other model in the portfolio as the Seltos alone represented about 40.3 per cent of total sales. The arrival of the new generation earlier this year has proved to be a huge success.
The Sonet compact SUV accounted for 31.2 per cent and the Carens added another 21 per cent. The latter also saw the expansion of its lineup with the debut of the Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV not too long ago while the factory-fitted CNG-spec Carens range was introduced only a few days ago. Meanwhile, the Syros produced the highest percentage increase in the table.

Its sales climbed from just 308 units in August 2025 to 1,742 units this year – an increase of 466 per cent. Its monthly number also rose 34 per cent from 1,303 units in July. Despite that increase, Syros still managed only about 6 per cent of Kia’s August volume and sat well behind Carens in third place. The Carens and Clavis range moved in the opposite direction on the YoY comparison.
Sales fell 11 per cent from 6,822 units to 6,093 units but the monthly comparison was much better as the August volume rose 14 per cent from July’s 5,352 units. The Carens was the only one of Kia’s three biggest sellers to post a YoY decline yet it still accounted for around one-fifth of the company’s total sales. Back to Seltos, its volumes rose 150 per cent YoY from 4,687 units but its monthly tally dropped 7 per cent from 12,541 units.

The Sonet recorded 9,048 units – up 17 per cent YoY and 2 per cent MoM. The two SUVs alone supplied more than seven out of every ten Kia vehicles sold during the month. The recently launched Kia Sorento, offered in six- and seven-seater layouts and in hybrid and diesel guises, recorded 365 units in August. It is locally assembled in India. The Carnival registered 78 units – up 56 per cent from 50 units a year earlier but down 14 per cent from 91 units in July.
