Hyundai Records Highest Ever SUV Sales In Oct 2024 – Creta Leads The Way

The Creta set a personal record with 17,497 units sold domestically in a single month; 37,902 Hyundai SUVs were sold in October 2024

In October 2024, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) posted total sales of 70,078 units, including 55,568 units in the domestic market and 14,510 units in exports, marking its third-highest monthly sales and domestic sales achievements since it began operations. The second-largest carmaker in the country achieved its highest-ever monthly SUV sales last month.

The brand achieved a total of 37,902 units as far as SUVs were concerned. The Hyundai Creta set a personal record with 17,497 units sold domestically in a single month. For the year to date, from January to October, the total sales – domestic and exports – reached 647,789 units. Additionally, Hyundai saw its highest-ever monthly CNG sales, recording 8,261 units.

This contributed to 14.9 per cent of sales in October domestically. The overall SUV segment maintained a strong share, making up 68.2 per cent of local sales for the month. Speaking on HMIL’s sales numbers, Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, HMIL said,

“We witnessed a strong demand for our SUV portfolio during festive period, leading to our highest-ever monthly SUV sales at 37,902 units, including highest ever monthly domestic sales of the Hyundai CRETA at 17,497 units. SUVs remain a cornerstone of our lineup, representing an impressive 68.2% of our total monthly sales in October 2024, with similar penetration in urban as well as rural markets.”

The South Korean auto major is preparing to launch its first locally-made electric vehicle for India. Based on the Creta, the midsize e-SUV is expected to compete directly with the recently launched Tata Curvv, high-spec trims of Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and others. It will likely boast a range of well over 450 km on a single charge.

The second-generation Hyundai Venue is also being developed and will likely go on sale by the middle of next year. It will be the first model rolled out of the Talegaon plant acquired from General Motors and will feature a host of revisions inside and out. However, the existing powertrain options could be retained.
