Crossovers are undoubtedly the cup of tea for the customers who seek a bit different tone from their usual cars. Almost every other automaker is trying to make a crossover in the Indian market. Hyundai is no far, as the South Korean automaker launched a crossover based on very popular Elite i20. Christened as Hyundai i20 Active the car looks aggressive and premium.
Launched on 17th March, 2015 the Hyundai i20 Active has become pretty popular in Indian market. Compare to its competitors like Volkswagen Cross Polo, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, and Toyota Etios Cross the i20 Active sells more units in India.
Hyundai i20 Active is available in both the petrol and diesel variants. The car is sold in six different trims with price tags ranging between Rs. 6.67 lakh to Rs. 9.52 lakh. Take a look at the variant wise price tags, and all prices are ex showroom, Delhi.

On the other hand, the diesel i20 Active’s power source is a 1.4 litre CRDi engine pumping out 90 S of peak power and 220 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty in the diesel car is done by a 6 speed manual gearbox.
The petrol variant of i20 Active’s ARAI certified fuel economy stands at 17.19 kmpl, while the diesel engine offers 21.19 kmpl.
Dimensionally, the i20 Active measures 3995 in length, 1760 mm in width, 1555 mm in height and 2570 mm wheelbase. The 5 person seating car features 285 litres of boot space, 190 mm of ground clearance and the fuel tank capacity stands at 45 litres.
At the front fascia the car sharp swept back multi feature headlamps with LED daytime running lights, large aggressive horizontally slated front grille. To deliver the off-roader vibe Hyundai has fitted body cladding, skid plate to the car with dual tone bumper.
At the side profile the body cladding, sporty roof rails, sharp creases give the car a CUV appearance. Although based on the premium and suave looking Elite i20, the crossover comes distinctive, which is an additional USP of the car. Compare to the Elite i20 this car possess a bit more length, width, height and extra ground clearance as well. Moving to the rear the i20 Active gets roof spoiler, sharp wrap around taillamps, beefy bumper and skid plate.

Being based on a premium hatchback the i20 Active bears the same upmarket vibe inside the cabin. There are two interior themes, which are – Aqua Blue or Black with Tangerine Orange inserts. Up front the cabin it sports multifunction steering wheel, dual analog dials and a TFT display at the instrument cluster. The centre console looks sleek with the slated air vents, 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity.
Among other features the cabin gets chilled glove box, 8 speaker music system, auto AC, HVAC control for rear occupants, rear parking sensors, electrically adjustable wing mirrors etc. The cabin is spacious with plenty of leg space and knee roof for the rear occupants, while the head room is also sufficient. The 285 litres of boot space offers decent space for your luggage as well.
