Hyundai will announce prices for the India-spec Bayon on October 26, 2026 as the new SUV prepares to occupy the space between the Venue and Creta in the brand’s domestic lineup. The five-seater measures 4.2 metres in length and is already available to reserve for Rs. 11,000 through Hyundai’s authorised dealerships and online. It will target buyers looking for a midsize as well as high-spec compact SUVs.
The Bayon will initially offer a naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine displacing 1.5 litres and developing a maximum power output of 113.4 hp and 144 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain which can already be found in Venue and Creta will be hooked with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an IVT automatic. Meanwhile, a factory-fitted CNG derivative is also a possibility for later stage.
The SUV is built on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced Platform which the manufacturer has designed to meet five-star Indian crash safety standards. The exterior of the Hyundai Bayon follows the Art of Steel styling theme as narrow H-shaped daytime running lights sit above separate headlamp units. The body adds angular wheel arches, protective lower cladding and bridge-style roof rails. Furthermore, the rear features slim tail lamps, a roof spoiler and contrasting bumper trim.
The cabin features two adjoining curved displays measuring 12.3 inches – each for instrumentation and infotainment. The NVIDIA-accelerated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) integrates onboard navigation, configurable shortcuts and split screen operation and is one of the major highlights of the SUV. The dashboard also retains physical climate controls and steering-mounted buttons to reduce the number of functions routed through the touchscreen. Notably, the drive mode selector sits on a dedicated pod on the steering wheel.
The Bayon will come with Hyundai India’s first generative AI voice assistant as it incorporates Perplexity intelligence and SoundHound voice technology. The system responds to conversational requests for travel plans, destinations and other information instead of relying solely on preset instructions. The SUV can also process over 500 embedded commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu without an internet connection.
The in-car connected interface supports ten regional and two international languages as Hyundai looks to consolidate access to its digital functions. The BlueLink suite covers over 70 services such as remote vehicle commands, navigation and security. Additionally, the electronic architecture supports remote software updates for up to 19 vehicle controllers. The capability also supports software revisions after delivery without a dealership visit.
The Bayon is expected to be priced between Rs. 9.6 lakh and Rs. 14.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol-only launch lineup, in contrast, differs from the Victoris and Grand Vitara which also offer strong hybrid powertrains. The first customer deliveries are scheduled for the festive season.
