Hyundai has revealed the safety specification of the Bayon ahead of its India launch on October 26, 2026. The SUV gets more than 80 safety features and over 35 are standard. It is underpinned by the Global K Enhanced Platform and has been developed to meet 5-star Indian safety standards – putting emphasis on structural protection and driver assistance technology.
The body comprises 69 per cent advanced multi-grade high strength steel across Hot Stamping, UHSS, AHSS and HSS grades. Hot-stamped sections feature around the front apron, dashboard, rear floor and side reinforcements. Meanwhile, rear floor side members receive similar treatment for rear impact protection. A dual-box construction, several load paths and a ring-type body structure are designed to distribute crash forces and reduce intrusion into the passenger cell.
Six airbags are standard across the Bayon’s range alongside Electronic Stability Control, Hill-Start Assist Control, a high-line tyre pressure monitoring system, Roll Over Sensor and Emergency Stop Signal. In addition, three-point seatbelts and reminders, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors, central locking, a burglar alarm and headlamp escort function are also fitted across all trims.
Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS accounts for 23 driver assistance functions and works through three radars and 12 parking sensors. Forward Collision Warning and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist cover cars, pedestrians and cyclists. Junction-turn intervention, direct-oncoming detection, Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Driver Attention Warning are other highlights.
Furthermore, Highway assistance extends to Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Following Assist, Highway Driving Assist and navigation-linked cruise control for curves and designated zones. It must be noted that Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist support reversing maneuvers and Safe Exit Warning can alert occupants to approaching traffic before a door is opened. Surround View Monitor and Blind-spot View Monitor provide additional camera coverage, and all-wheel disc brakes are also listed.
Power is derived from a familiar four-cylinder 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine which is good enough to develop 115 PS and 143.8 Nm. Customers can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox and an IVT. Hyundai has also confirmed 10 exterior finishes comprising Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey, plus Atlas White and Fiery Red dual-tone options and matte versions of Titanium Black and Classy Blue. Reservations are already open for Rs. 11,000 through Hyundai dealerships and the company’s website and customer deliveries are scheduled for this festive season.
