BMW will bring the updated 7 Series and i7 to India on September 11, alongside the new locally assembled i5 LWB electric sedan

The BMW 7 Series facelift and i7 facelift have already been confirmed to launch this month while the prices of the i5 LWB is also expected to be revealed. The updated 7 Series and i7 will arrive on September 11 while the i5 LWB will become the German carmaker’s second locally assembled electric vehicle in India upon arrival.

The BMW i5 LWB was announced at the launch of the X1 LWB a few weeks ago and bookings for the model have opened through authorised dealerships and BMW India’s official website. The electric sedan will be available in standard and First Edition versions and it will sit below the 7 Series and i7 in BMW’s expansive sedan range.

The BMW i5 LWB will measure 5.1 metres in length and get a wheelbase of 3.10 metres – making both dimensions 100 mm longer than the standard wheelbase i5. The sedan will boast an 81.6 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels. The motor will be good enough to generate 268 bhp while the claimed range will stand at 669 km on the MIDC cycle per charge.

The updated design will sit alongside a revised cabin enabling the flagship sedan range a substantial equipment update over the outgoing version.

The BMW 7 Series facelift and i7 facelift will get a new 17.9-inch touchscreen running a new operating system alongside a 14.6-inch display for the front passenger. The dashboard will also feature a wide instrument cluster while a new four-spoke steering wheel will replace the existing unit.
