We reported earlier that the Aprilia SR 125 premium scooter had reached ARAI for homologation in the country back in May last year. Upon launch, the 125 cc premium scooter will join the popular Aprilia SR 150 that has earned praise from the two-wheeler enthusiasts across India. It shares same design language and features with the bigger sibling and the only distinctive feature being the “125” sticker.
The Aprilia SR 125 sports same aggressive design as the SR 150 premium performance scooter. Despite being a scooter, it appears with inspiration from the Aprilia superbikes. Also, the sportiness of it is undeniably eye-catching as its bigger sibling. The scooter comes equipped with butterfly shaped headlamp at the centre of the front cowl. Aprilia claims that the design emphasises on the scooter’s sportiness and it provides better illumination rather than what can be provided from the conventional headlamps.

The rear profile gets a sharp look with crafted looking taillight and split grab bar enhancing the overall sportiness of the SR 125. The exhaust comes with an upward position just like the SR 150. Speaking about the powertrain, it draws energy from a 125 cc engine paired with a CVT and churns out 10.06 hp of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 10.6 Nm of peak torque delivered at 6,000 rpm. It is the same unit used in the Vespa VXL.

According to several reports emerged on the internet, the Aprilia SR 125 has started reaching showrooms across the country already and we expect it to be priced around Rs. 3,500-4,000 less than its 150 cc derivative which costs Rs. 69,000 (ex-showroom). It is expected to be offered in silver and blue paint schemes along with the existing palette. The Italian brand, part of the Piaggio Group, will certainly make an impact at the motoring exhibition in Greater Noida as it did back in 2016 by showcasing several performance motorcycles that are waiting to be launched in India.
