Toyota’s teaser of 2026 Glanza facelift has revealed a larger grille and new LED fog lamps ahead of expected engine upgrades and features including Level 2 ADAS

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will launch the 2026 Glanza facelift in India tomorrow – a little over a month after the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno entered the market. The Japanese manufacturer has already released the teaser of the hatchback revealing substantial changes to its front fascia. As has been the case with the badge engineering exercises between these brands, the facelift is expected to inherit the Baleno’s new three-cylinder petrol engine and additional equipment alongside Toyota-specific styling revisions.

The teaser gives away a larger grille with honeycomb mesh inserts and chrome accents along its sides. The Toyota emblem now sits above the grille and a thick chrome garnish extends across the front fascia. The redesigned bumper gains rectangular LED fog lamps in place of the outgoing model’s circular units. The existing headlamp design and LED daytime running lights are expected to be retained while a set of revised 16-inch alloy wheels could also be introduced.

The facelift is expected to receive Maruti Suzuki’s Z12E 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine which develops 82 hp and 112.4 Nm in the updated Baleno. The motor will replace the outgoing Glanza’s four-cylinder K12N engine rated at 89 hp and 113 Nm. Transmission options should comprise a five-speed manual and a five-speed AMT. The Z12E engine incorporates Dual VVT and idle start-stop technology to improve fuel economy.

The CNG-AMT gearbox and its mileage figure are confirmed for the Baleno and it could be the same for Glanza

The new Baleno delivers claimed mileage figures of 23.80 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 24.77 kmpl with the AMT. Similar figures are likely for the Glanza. A CNG derivative is also possible with the corresponding Baleno developing 70 hp and 102 Nm. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki introduced a CNG-AMT option with claimed efficiency of 34.47 km/kg. Toyota hasn’t yet confirmed whether the Glanza will receive this transmission combination or not.

The cabin will more likely retain the existing dashboard layout and nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, the latest Baleno offers an indication of potential equipment additions. These include ventilated front seats with leatherette upholstery, a Qi-certified wireless charger with active cooling and a Clarion audio system. The Glanza already offers a head-up display, 360-degree camera and automatic climate control on selected variants.

Baleno’s Interior

The safety package could come with a significant upgrade through the introduction of Level 2 ADAS. The 2026 Baleno features eight assistance functions through a radar- and camera-based system. These are adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision warning and automatic high-beam assistance. A tyre pressure monitoring system is another potential addition.

The Baleno also features six airbags as standard and we expect the same on the Glanza facelift. The existing Glanza measures 3,990 mm long and 1,745 mm wide with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. Its height stands at 1,500 mm and boot capacity is rated at 318 litres. The outgoing hatchback is priced between Rs. 6.73 lakh and Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and the updated model could command a minor price increase. The Glanza will continue to compete against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.
