UM Motorcycles is planning to launch carbureted versions of Renegade Sports S and Renegade Commando in Indian market. Carburetted versions of these two bikes will help the brand to grow bigger in market as both these models will be significantly cheaper compared to their fuel-injected versions. Expect both the carburetted bikes to be launched at 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo.
UM Renegade Sports S is presently available in India at a price tag of Rs. 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), while the Renegade Commando comes with a price tag of Rs. 1.76 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Expect the carbureted versions of these two bikes to be cheaper by around Rs. 10,000. Apart from the carburetor technology, these two models will come generating slightly different power and torque output compared to the fuel-injected models.

UM Motorcycles previously sold bikes in India with carburetor technology, but shifted to fuel injection tech when BS-IV emission norm was implemented across the country. By bringing back the carburetor technology equipped models, UM Motorcycles aims to throw tough challenge to the Royal Enfield Classic and Thunderbird motorcycles that are very popular in the domestic market.
Carburetted versions of both these bikes will be sold in India till the implementation of BS-VI emission norm in April 2020. Speaking about the power source of UM Renegade Sports S and Renegade Commando, both the bikes are powered by a 279.5 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that is mated to a 6-speed transmission. This engine is capable of churning out 25.15 PS of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 23 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm.

Meanwhile, as we reported, UM Motorcycles is working on a new model that will join the brand’s four offering in the domestic market in February this year after its unveiling at 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. This bike will come powered by a 230 cc engine.
The new UM bike headed to India will share similar styling as the Renegade series models available in the market. This bike will share several components with UM renegade models. Expect it to be priced competitively and it will certainly help the brand to grab more market share here.
