Maruti Suzuki, the leading car manufacturer in the country seems to be strengthening its domination once again in the Indian market. With the fabulous response received for the recently launched models, its market share has gone as high as 49.5 percent. With nearly half the market covered, it enjoys a big to the nearest rival Hyundai which has secured 15.4 percent in second position ahead of Mahindra and Mahindra, Honda Cars India, Tata Motors and Renault India.
The September month sales chart featured six models in leading ten from Maruti Suzuki as the Alto, Swift Dzire, Swift and WagonR locked the top four positions. The entry-level small car segment topping Alto endured an encouraging 34 percent YoY growth 27,750 units were sold against 20,658 in September 2015.

The Swift Dzire sub-compact sedan posted a marginal decline of 4 percent to finish second with 18,961 units. While WagonR encountered 12 percent sales growth in fourth, the popular Swift compact hatchback in third place garnered a total of 16,746 units with 8 percent Year-on-Year decline. Hyundai’s three big sellers responsible for the acquiring of 15.4 percent market share are the i twins and the Creta SUV.
In the month of September, they did not disappoint as Grand i10 secured fifth position with 12,212 units while the Elite i20 premium hatchback registered a slump of 12 percent due to the rise in sales of the Baleno at eighth. Renault’s heart of domestic sales lies with the Kwid hatchback which is sailing in the right direction every month as over 10,000 units were again delivered.

Rounding out the final two positions are the Vitara Brezza and Creta in ninth and tenth positions respectively. With the sales of 9,375 units, the Vitara Brezza has been retailed for over 50,000 units since its launch in March as Maruti has its work cutout to bring down the waiting period. The Hyundai Creta, launched just over a year ago, endured 21 percent growth to complete in tenth position with 8,835 examples.
