In the second month of the calendar year 2023, Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno regained the top position in the overall sales table. The premium hatchback posted a total of 18,592 units last month as against 12,570 units during the same period in 2022 with a YoY positive sales growth of 48 per cent.
The Swift compact hatchback finished in the second position with 18,412 unit sales against 19,202 units in February 2022 with a YoY negative volume growth of 4 per cent. The Alto entry-level hatchback garnered a total of 18,114 units as against 11,551 units with a YoY growth of 57 per cent. The Alto dropped two places to third.
The YoY growth comes as a result of the recently launched new-gen Alto K10’s good reception. The WagonR tall riding hatch recorded a domestic tally of 16,889 units as against 14,669 units in Feb 2022 with a YoY volume increase of 15 per cent. The Dzire compact sedan registered 16,798 units against 17,438 units with a YoY decline of 4 per cent.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza posted 15,787 units last month against 9,256 units with a YoY surge of 71 per cent. The most sold SUV in the country beat its arch rival Tata Nexon after quite a while to sit at the top of the SUV charts. The Nexon slotted in at seventh with 13,914 units as against 12,259 units with a YoY growth of 14 per cent.
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco finished in the eighth position with 11,352 units as against 9,190 units with a YoY growth of 24 per cent. The Tata Punch micro SUV managed to finish ninth with 11,169 units against 9,592 units with a YoY sales increase of 16 per cent.
The Hyundai Creta midsize SUV rounded out the top ten with a total of 10,421 units as against 9,606 units in February 2022 with a YoY increase of 8 per cent. The facelifted version of the Creta is expected to go on sale early next year in India.
