The Toyota Fortuner received a set of minor updates in September 2018. With this, the premium 7-seater SUV, which has been a dominating force in its segment, received a host of new features. This also resulted in a slight increase in the price. The Fortuner is currently available in a price range of Rs 27.27 – 32.97 Lakh.
All variants of the Toyota Fortuner are now equipped with Immobilizer with a siren, ultrasonic sensor, glass break sensor, Auto-dimming Inside Rear View Mirror (IRVM), Emergency Brake Signal, Rear Fog Lamp, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, Traction Control, Brake Assist, and Cruise Control. However, our focus today is on the model that was sold before these updates were rolled in.
The leftover stock of the older Toyota Fortuner, the one that was sold till September 2018, is available with a cash discount of Rs 1 lakh. This is a great offer, especially if you consider that the Fortuner has been the highest selling SUV in its segment. These discounts are being offered in a bid to clear the inventory.
The Toyota Fortuner is available with two engine options – 2.8–litre turbocharged diesel and 2.7-litre naturally aspirated patrol. The diesel motor produces a maximum power of 177 bhp, while the petrol motor isn’t far behind, with a peak power of 166 bhp. However, there’s a huge difference in the torque.
The diesel engine produces 420 Nm with the manual transmission and 450 Nm with the automatic gearbox. The petrol engine, in comparison, offers only 245 Nm. Transmission options for both the engines include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The Toyota Fortuner is the only SUV in its segment, which also includes the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas, and Isuzu MU-X, to offer a petrol engine option.
The diesel engine offers an ARAI-tested mileage of 14.24 kmpl with the manual transmission and 12.9 kmpl with the automatic unit. The petrol engine offers 10.01 kmpl with the manual transmission and 10.26 kmpl with the automatic option.
