Maruti Suzuki crossed 20 million production mark in India. India is the second country to cross this milestone in the history of its parent ‘Suzuki’ after Japan but India is the fastest to reach this milestone in 34 years and 5 months. The Japanese manufacturer commenced production in India in December, 1983 with Maruti 800 is the first model manufactured which has become one of the iconic products in the country.
The growth of Maruti Suzuki is impressive over the year as the company currently has three plants in India. The Manesar and Gurgaon plants are running in full capacity and to reduce waiting period the company has set up a third plant in Gujarat in which the first line has started manufacturing cars. The plant will be running in full capacity within in couple of years.

Maruti Suzuki Alto is the most produced car in India with 3.7 million units followed by Maruti 800 at 2.91 million units, Wagon R at 2.13 million units, Omni at 1.94 million units and Swift at 1.94 units. The company has sold 1.7 million cars in last fiscal year and they will achieve the 2 million this fiscal year which was targeted for 2020.
