Between April and December 2017, Honda WR-V has moved up the ranking and stood as the second most retailed sub-four metre SUV in the country. While the Vitara Brezza ruled the roster throughout the year, the Ford EcoSport’s position in the market had been put under threat as the rivalry upped a few notches with new competitors drifting in.
Honda introduced the WR-V back in March 2017 and within five months of its launch the subcompact SUV based on the Jazz registered its best monthly of 5,200 units. It started positing consistent numbers right from the get go and has averaged well over 4,000 deliveries per month since its debut. Ford has the EcoSport as its bestselling product in India and realising the importance of its presence, a thorough facelift went on sale from November 2017.

Underlining its good reception among customers, it has managed 35,975 units in the nine months of this financial year which is 3,814 more than what EcoSport could achieve in the same period. Honda sells the WR-V in two petrol and as many diesel variants with prices ranging between Rs. 7.66 lakh and Rs. 9.91 lakh (ex-showroom).
