Kia officially announced the entry to Indian market at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Korean manufacturer showcased its entire range of vehicles at the Auto Expo along with SP concept which made its global debut in India. The SP concept production version is going to be a compact SUV which will rival Hyundai Creta when it is launched in the market.

Among the models showcased at the Auto Expo, Stonic and Grand Carnival are the models which generated most interest among the visitors. So the company is considering both these models for Indian market but these will be introduced only after the hatchback and sedan models which will be launched soon.

The Stonic is the sister model of Hyundai Kona compact SUV which was introduced earlier this year. The Korean manufacturer is considering Stonic platform for other body styles which will be launched later in India. The design of Stonic is muscular and attractive which will appeal to a wide range of audience.

Internationally Kia is offering three engine options with Stonic. The base 1.2 L petrol engine produces 84 bhp and 1.0 L turbocharged petrol engine puts out 120 bhp. The 1.6 L diesel engine churns out 110 hp. These engines are mated to 5 speed and 6 speed manual gearbox options along with a 7 speed dual clutch automatic.

The Stonic shares most of the parts with Hyundai Kona and like its sister brand the company has given long list of features for the SUV like 7 inch touch screen infotainment system, climate control and more. Along with Stonic the second model that is considered for India is Carnival SUV which will be direct rival for Toyota Innova Crysta in India.

The USP of Carnival MPV will be the sliding doors for the second row. International markets get the option of 11 seats and if the company bring this to Indian it will make Carnival stand out of the competition. The Carnival is powered by 2.2 L diesel engine with 200 hp and this engine is mated to 6 speed automatic gearbox. By 2021, Kia is expected to have 5 models in India.
