BMW India is expecting to sell more SUVs in the domestic market and according to a media report, one out of every two cars sold will be from the X range. The German automaker’s product portfolio in India comprises of X1, X3, X5 and X6 SUVs and they are more popular compared to the luxury sedans. BMW India President Vikram Pawah has said that the introduction of the latest X1 has led to the SUVs contribution jump from 30 percent to 42 percent.
Instigated by the good reception of SUVs, BMW is planning to leverage the opportunity and now targets 50 percent of its total market share to come from the sales of SUVs. As part of the plan, the X3 has received a substantial update recently. With prices starting from Rs. 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it gained an evolutionary exterior and is lighter than the previous model prompting better fuel efficiency.

It is claimed to have 50:50 weight distribution and built on the same CLAR architecture which helps in saving 50 kilograms compared to its global predecessor.
