Volvo Launches Updated XC90 In India; Priced From Rs. 76.47 Lakh

2018 Volvo XC90 SUV gets more features and safety measures across all trims; receives paddle shifter and adaptive cruise control

Volvo has launched the updated XC90 SUV in India for the 2018 model year. The luxury SUV has received several equipment updates along with new safety features across all trims. The updated model now comes priced between Rs. 76.47 lakh and Rs. 86.96 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The mid-spec R-Design trim comes with a price tag of Rs. 83.92 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Speaking about the equipment updates, the base Momentum rim comes equipped with paddle shifters, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control and a parking assist system that helps the driver with self parking function. Also, there is a compass introduced to the model as well.

The mid R-Design and top-spec Inscription of the Volvo XC90 SUV come equipped with heated steering wheel, blind spot detection, cross traffic alerts and a 360 degree camera as well. Volvo has also added a rear collision mitigation support feature that was previously available for the front only. Additionally, the top-spec trim gets ventilated front seats with massage function. Apart from that, Volvo XC90’s Inscription trim has received updates across the ORVMs, windows, gear shifter, remote control and sill moulding as well.

The Swedish luxury car manufacturer has promised that it is dedicated to make sure that no person dies in accident involving a Volvo car by 2020. Considering the fact that India is among the top countries with highly alarming rate of death due to road accidents, the auto major is clearly showing its dedication towards making the cars and roads safer. The latest safety feature update comes in line of that strategy only.

Despite strong competition from the three German rivals and Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo has posted impressive sales growth in 2017. The XC90 appears to be one of the most attractive products from the brand in Indian market. Thanks to the latest range of update, this luxury SUV will surely become much more appealing.

While the SUV has received new features and safety measures, mechanically it is unchanged. The car continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, diesel engine that is mated to an 8-speed transmission. This engine is capable of churning out 235 hp of peak power and 480 Nm of peak torque. There is a petrol hybrid model as well. Power is sent to all the four wheels via an AWD system.
