Mahindra has exclusive right to manufacture and launch Yezdi and BSA premium motorcycles in India

Not very long ago, Mahindra acquired the Jawa Motorcycle and BSA. Now, it seems, the homegrown auto manufacturer is ready to launch the premium retro Yezdi motorcycles in the country soon. The official website of the Yezdi is live now indicating the nearing arrival of its motorcycles in the country.

The official website of the Yezdi shows several models of the company that include the Classic, CL II, Deluxe, Monarch and Yezdi 175. It also shows the Yezdi enthusiasts who achieved feats with their beloved Yezdi motorcycles. Clearly, the brand has tried to revive the old school charm the Yezdi motorcycles are known for.

Mahindra Two-Wheelers has the exclusive licensing deal to manufacture and sell the Jawa and BSA motorcycles under its subsidiary Classic Legends Private Limited. Mahindra cleared its ambition to focus on the premium motorcycles instead of the mass market commuter products and the revival of these retro motorcycles are a part of that strategy. It is not sure, when the brand will bring the Yezdi and BSA motorcycles in the domestic market, but we can expect these machines to appear at the upcoming 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo.

Jawa motorcycles started their journey in the country in 1960 under the company Ideal Jawa (India) Limited. From 1973, the brand changed its name to Yezdi and these retro machines on two wheels were in business in the country market till 1996. Despite the sales stopped, the appeal of these motorcycles has been always high to the enthusiasts.

Now, with the Czech motorcycle brand is ready to come back in the country market again, enthusiasts are keeping a close eye on the development. Interestingly, the company recently launched the Jawa 350 in its home country and we expect the same model to arrive here as well. Upon arrival of the Yezdi motorcycles, Royal Enfield would face a sharp competition in the midsize category.
