Yamaha MT-03 is the naked version of R3, should be atleast Rs.30,000 cheaper than R3 when it comes to India

Yamaha recently launched the YZF-R3 in India at a price which seems good compared to competition, but still it lacks something that makes it no so attractive proposition. To solve that, here comes the Yamaha MT-03. The Yamaha MT-03 is a naked version of the YZF-R3. The styling is typical MT series bike inspired with slim headlight and missing fairing panel on both sides. All of that is replaced by an engine belly cowl. The Yamaha MT-03 has tank shrouds like its elder sibling to complete the toned down styling.

There are as of now three colors on option. Racing Blue and Midnight black. Red is visible in pictures, but we think that won’t make it to India. Chassis is also painted on the naked Yamaha MT-03. The chassis is also pained, something that is missing on the YZF-R3. Flat handle bars instead of clip ons make it the Yamaha MT-03. Meters and switches remain the same.

Mechanically, the Yamaha MT-03 uses the same 321cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine which makes 42 PS at 10750 RPM and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9000 RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike weighs at 165 kgs and that makes it 4 kgs lighter than the YZF R3. Pricing is said to be lower by Rs. 20-25,000/- which should even be more interesting and compete with rivals such as Kawasaki Z250 and KTM Duke 390 in India.

Yamaha MT-03 launch date is speculated in March 2016 and should give enthusiast more options. The Yamaha MT-03 is a stunning looking motorcycle from Yamaha which carries legacy mechnically and cosmetically as well which make things emotional for riders as it has always been Yamaha bikes in India which we saw with the FZ and YZF R15.
