Volvo V40 Launched In India comes with the most powerful diesel engine in its category

Volvo in India is on a roll. Volvo has been launching passenger cars in India one after the other. After launching the S60 and XC 90 along with Volvo V40 Cross Country. All these models have slowly made their way to the Indian shores in different engine forms and now its turn for the youngest product of the lot the Volvo V40.

The Volvo V40 looks the same as its Cross Country version when it comes to the styling, but gets a revised front bumper with LED DRLs. The rear gets a sporty gloss black finished diffuser and the twin exhaust pipes are finished in dull chrome. The V40 also gets a lowered suspension for mature ride handling on the hatchback unlike the Cross Country which had raised suspension. On the inside though the V40 gets the same layout as its Cross Country.

The interior host a lot of features which includes adaptive digital display console, cruise control, fixed panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, multi-function steering wheel, TFT touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity.

Volvo has also introduced a R Design variant on the Volvo V40 that gets exterior and interior treamnt over the regular version. Buyers can choose from 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels on the Volvo V40. Features list is large and also includes Active convenience such as, auto bending headlights, Park Assist pilot, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear parking camera, rain sensors, climate control etc. Active safety features that Volvo V40 has 7 airbags with pedestrian airbag at the front, City Safety Technology, emergency brake assist, ABS, ASC, DSTC.

Coming to the engines. The Volvo V40 is currently available only in the diesel. Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbo diesel that produces 150 HP and 350 Nm of torque and that is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The tune is the highest in the segment as BMW 1-Series comes with 140 BHP and so does the the Audi A3.

The Mercedes A-Class 200 CDI recently came with 135 BHP upgrade to finally fit into the category. Volvo V40 has a strong competition but with its styling and class leading features it is worthy competition and should give a tough fight to its competitors.
