Volkswagen is planning to introduce the much awaited T-Roc in India later this year. The T-Roc made its global debut couple of years ago and the compact crossover has been selling really well in European markets as the company is expanding the variant lineup of T-Cross with more model.
Some reports have indicated that Volkswagen is planning to lunch the model via CBU route as they are already working on a smaller model for the Indian market based on T-Roc and it is likely to be introduced by 2021. The company is taking advantage of the new import rule in which a manufacturer can import models without homologation.
But the government will only allow 2500 units to be imported each year this way and the company will introduce the top-spec model in India with all the bells and whistles, which is going to increase the price of T-Roc and it is expected to be a rival for the Jeep Compass. The company is not looking at outright volumes as it will be just for brand building.
The T-Roc is available with lots of engine option and in India is likely to be powered by 2.0 L diesel engine with 190 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to 7-speed automatic gearbox with a four-wheel drive system. The company might also introduce the 1.0 L TSI engine also.
The T-Roc is based on the MQB platform and it measures 4,234 mm long, 1,824 mm wide, 1572 mm height and 2,590 mm wheelbase. The exterior design theme of T-Roc is attractive as the front gets LED headlamps while the lower part of the bumper is also new with round shaped LED DRLs, which also functions as indicators.
The rear gets LED tail lamps and the company offer dual tone colour options also. The interior design of T-Roc is similar to other VW models as the SUV gets fully digital instrument cluster and a new touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, wireless charging, 8-channel sound system by Beats and more.
