Volkswagen Polo 1.0 Litre TSi could come with a manual gearbox, likely to replace the 1.2 naturally aspirated motor
There is no stopping Volkswagen with whatever currently is happening with them out in the world. It continues to launch products, do its daily chores and much more. One act of those which has us all excited is this latest news from the brand. Volkswagen has just imported a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol motor aka TSi with Bluemotion technology to India. This means a lot. The purpose for which it has been called in is for testing purposes.
The 999cc makes 95 PS and 110 PS along with lower tunes such as 60 PS and 75 PS as well. Volkswagen could up the game and get this engine in the 95 PS tune and offer it with a manual gearbox. The 1.2 TSi comes with a standard DSG gearbox which makes 105 PS. This could turn the tides for Volkswagen in India and could see Polo finally selling in good numbers as hatchback owners love petrol engines no matter what the prices are.
Good driveability along with performance and a manual gearbox could attract enthusiast to the market. A mileage of around 20 km/l could make sure it stays practical and efficient as well. Pricing could be good enough and give competition an chance to think over their options. Next facelifted i20 is believed to come with a 1.0 l turbo engine as well. Baleno also has same story about it.
However, we think Polo needs to be all new to give competition some hard time. We also think this could be disguise as the upcoming compact sedan could get this engine and rock the market as the Volkswagen will end up offering something new in the compact sedan market. There are endless options and that’s why this is a interesting and tempting story. Let’s wait and watch what Wolfsburg has for us in store.
