Volkswagen offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto update on select models like the Polo, Vento and Jetta; as part of the App Connect Package

The German automaker Volkswagen is offering infotainment system update on select models like the Polo, Vento and Jetta. These cars are now eligible to get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatible infotainment system. Apart from that, the Voice Command function is also on offer. This infotainment system update is a part of the App Connect Package, which is available at the Volkswagen Service Centres across India.

The Polo hatchback, Vento and Jetta sedans come with the MIB II head-unit. To make these cars more appealing, the German automaker is offering this App Connect Package and to avail this, the customers have to pay a hefty price. For example, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta owners can avail the update at a price of approximately Rs. 27,000, which includes the package and an USB port as well.

If the owner wants the Voice Command function to be installed, then he or she has to pay extra for that. With this function enabled, the voice control button on the steering wheel can be used to interact with the iPhone or Android smartphone connected to the infotainment system of the car.

Presently the Volkswagen Polo hatchback comes with a MirrorLink touchscreen infotainment system, available only on the top-end Highline variant. It also features USB, Bluetooth connectivity and Voice Command function. With the new App Connect Package on offer, lower variants could also get the same. On the other hand, the VW Vento also gets similar features available in the Highline variant.

The young customers want more from their cars, than just as a medium for commuting. No wonder, Volkswagen being one of the major players in the domestic market is targeting to grow its business. To attract more customers, it wants to offer an upmarket experience with its popular models. Offering the new infotainment system update is just a part of that.
