Volkswagen ID Roomzz uses two electric motors to deliver 302 hp and the driving range stands at 450 km on WLTP cycle

Volkswagen has hosted the global premiere of the ID Roomzz concept at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show and it is part of the new line of ID cars planned by the brand in its push towards electric mobility. The ID family appeals to a different set of customers and it plays an integral role in the future prospects of VW.

In ID Roomzz’s case, it will spawn a production all-electric SUV with three-row seating arrangement in a couple of years. Volkswagen has boldly claimed that the ID Roomzz will offer more space than the standard Touareg and it will target family-oriented buyers across the globe.

The Volkswagen ID Roomzz measures 4,915 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,760 mm in height, and comes with a wheelbase of 2,965 mm. Volkswagen has used a twin electric motor system to propel the e-SUV and they combine to produce a maximum of 302 horsepower at the tap.

The German car manufacturer claims that the latest ID can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in a very decent 6.6 seconds and can go all the way up to 180 kmph. The large 82 kWh battery pack is mounted on the floor and it is operable with the 150 kW DC fast charging facility as well.

The all-important driving range stands at 450 kilometres on the WLTP (Worldwide harmonised Light vehicle Testing Procedure) on a single charge, and using the fast charger it can replenish by up to 80 per cent in just a matter of 30 minutes. The ID Roomzz concept does not have a dramatic showboating exterior and it’s a good thing I suppose.

It has some highlighting features like sliding rear doors and a unique exterior offering multiple seating arrangements. It has Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities and in that driving mode, the individual seats can be rotated inwards by 25 degrees, as it will create a comfy lounge ambience.

The digital glass-made cockpit, all digitized steering wheel, “AppleSkin” material developed from raw materials, wooden veneers on the door panels are other key features.
