Volkswagen releases the first teaser of I.D Roomzz Concept ahead of its official debut at Auto Shanghai later this month
Volkswagen has officially released a new image teaser of its upcoming I.D Roomzz Concept, which is an electric crossover and should make its global debut a the 2019 Auto Shanghai later this month. The production model of the I.D Roomzz is expected to reach the market in 2021 and will follow the design theme of other models in the I.D series.
The front-end of the Volkswagen I.D Roomzz Concept features full-size LED headlamps, which brings the styling theme for the front-end in line with those of the other models in the I.D series. The body has several smooth lines and surface treatment, which minimizes the aerodynamic drag.
One of the biggest aspects in which the company has worked really hard is the interior. The cabin of the new model is totally different from that of any other VW model and offers flexible seating configurations and high-quality materials. The car could even offer multiple ambient lighting options to further enhance the interior ambience.
The Volkswagen I.D Roomzz Concept also features advanced autonomous driving features that can control features like steering, acceleration and braking. VW has been offering several autonomous and semi-autonomous features on all its I.D models and is even expected to make this tech a production-reality in the coming years.
The Volkswagen I.D Roomzz Concept is underpinned by the advanced modular electric drive matrix (MED) platform, which provides the base for all models in the I.D lineup. This architecture has been tailor-made to support vehicles of varied dimensions. The battery pack is stored under the passenger compartment, which leads to a low centre of gravity.
The production version of the Volkswagen I.D Roomzz Concept will be launched early next year. It is likely to offer a driving range of more than 500 km. The production version will be initially sold only in the European market and will reach the US market only by the end of 2020.
